Walkingmama Touch & Discover Best Jogging Stroller Features

This stroller will get the job done, but not as stellar as the more expensive brands.
If you’re a moderate jogger with no intentions of investing much – this is the stroller for you. The ride is smooth but still doesn’t glide like an air.

Jeep is good for daily life and moderate jogging and less so for the serious running.

Affordable stroller for the moderate joggers

I tend to brush aside the customer’s disappointments of  not getting a blistering stroller for a little money. I’m not a snob, but we just have to be realistic. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to jogging strollers.
The Jeep Overland is very affordable, and it is one of the best in its price range.
Comparing to its closest price competitor, Schwinn Instep Arrow – the Jeep is designed more for the real life (bigger seat, ample storage) than for  high speed comfy run (Schwinn can be pushed with just one finger and has shock absorbers).

Bells and whistles

The reason why I haven’t included Jeep Overland  in my Top 5 is because I always wondering about people buying strollers because of a mp3 player or pedometer. Does it make the ride better? Does the child feel more comfortable only because of Mp3?
I tend to doubt the products that compete on bells and whistles. But Jeep has exceeded my expectations!

Jeep Overland Review Summary

Jeep Overland never feels as fast as expected – mainly because of its weight (26lbs vs 23 of BOB or 20lbs of Schwinn Arrow).
It feels slightly heavy to run and a bit bumpy for speeding off-road. However, it has good control on the mud/grass. The stroller has 3 soft ride knobbed tires but no shock absorbers – which is very okay for the walking and jogging and less enjoyable for the speedy exercises.
An adjustable handle is a very attractive feature anyway.
Jeep does fit into a four-door sedan and feels fine in public transport.

Look: Nothing actively offends here. The Jeep looks rugged, just as the name suggests (and is loved by fathers). Its sporty look and mp3 with odometer are added to help moms maintain a dedication to their running (if your dedication is weak, nothing will help you, though).

Dad’s voice: It’s not girly at all! If cross bracing had been added, I think it could work well in most National Parks and don’t worry about the rivets pulling through the frame.

Sports Performance

The Jeep Overland is designed for outdoor use by healthy people.
I say “by healthy people” because it has a large amount of comments about the heaviness of the steering. The more miles you have to go the more you’ll feel the burn. I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re running long distance on curvy paths, unless you’d like an extra workout on your arms.

Actually, the Koolcraft has removed the shock absorbers, which made the steering more easy, compared to the previous model, Jeep Overland Fierce.

Easy Ride/Performance.  The ride is good, however, not as excellent as some ex-BOB users might expect (they say that unlike a BOB, you have to PUSH this stroller to get it to move). But, objectively speaking, Ferrari owners might find the rest of the cars not so appealing..
The Jeep still does have a nice smooth ride and it’s comfy but not so lightweight and soft. So it’s not frustrating but not excellent.  Maneuverability is the same as all the alloy rim fixed wheels: it’s easy as it can be.

Stability – Not really steady. When turning at a fast speed, it feels flimsy and the inside tire comes off the ground. The stroller might tilt and fall off. It also tips easily, especially if you put more than 3 lbs onto the parent console (hanging a heavy diaper bag on the stroller’s holder).
The wheels don’t seem very stable (probably because they sit quite loose on a rear axle).

Durability: How sturdy it is and how long it lasts.
Excellent feedback: despite some of the shakiness, the Jeep has a durable tread for off-roading. Aluminum/steel frame is of good quality.
Parents say it lasts through child one, two, and even three. It has traveled many miles and been on many jogging excursions and haven’t experienced any trouble.
No parts broken except a pedometer and mp3. But we didn’t count on them anyway…

Adjustable Handle – This feature makes the choice pretty clear for the tall parents or serious runners. Normally, strollers make it very exhausting for the taller people to bend to push the stroller around. It’s great when you can lift it to your personal height and then lower it back.
Jeep’s rubber handle’s material isn’t among the best ones – a bit sticky and might feel rough. I use cycling gloves anyway, which is excellent for running and speedy walking, making the grip much firmer and the handling easier.

Alignment – We have quite a lot of complaints here. The alignment seems to be off for some of the strollers, and keeps drifting to the side. If you’re lucky, the alignment might be able to be fixed by simple adjustment of the front wheel or checking if both wheels are pumped equally. If that doesn’t help, the only way is to check if the frame is bent.

Off-road – Jeep is made for diverse terrain walks (grass, gravel, mud, cement, etc) and works perfectly for walking, but is rough for jogging/running on bumpy surfaces. You’ll need to put a blanket or some kind of body support on your child if you carry a baby. Good control thanks to its knobbed tires, it adjusts excellent to the rough pavement

Rollerblading – quite rough, especially for tiny babies. I can’t recommend skating with Jeep with the babies under the age of one because it has no shocks. The Jeep is bouncy at high speeds. Pay attention to the hand brake before going to skate – adjust them for fast stops.

Safety – It has a safety leash, canopy, wheel reflectors, and brakes (one step brake here, and  I love this because it makes it easy and quick to use it). See Stability to have a full impression.

Is it good for the Strollnetics?

Real Life Usage

Measured for ease of use, child’s comfort, storage space and parent’s extras.

This stroller is best suited for practical daily uses. It has good size capacity, plenty of storage, near flat seat recline, and a canopy that can go all the way forward. The seat is roomy and there’s plenty of space, even for 4-5 year olds!

Jeep is a good-sized stroller that will last through your child’s toddlerhood.

Ease of use – includes Folding, Adjusting and Use of Harnesses.

Folding: The Jeep offers quite an easy fold using two hands. It stands upright when folded – which all spacesaver parents look for. Good feature – you can roll the stroller folded. Stroller has an incredibly simple mechanism for removing and replacing the 2 back wheels. Fits into a small four-door sedan.

Adjusting: The seat reclines easily by pulling a strap. An almost flat recline.

Use of harnesses: The harness is not the easiest to loosen. It also includes padded shoulder straps.

Child’s comfort includes a reclining seat, seat height & width, canopy, foot rest, quality of fabrics and suspension.

Seat: Roomy and comfortable, nearly flat recline. The seat is spacious: even 4-5 year olds are still able to use this stroller fairly comfortably despite the weight capacity of 45 pounds (an average is 70lbs). But you’re on the safe side, as an average 5 year old weighs 42lbs.
The Jeep has the widest seat (16.5”) among the Top Jogging Strollers and the second-highest seatback (23.75’) after Baby Jogger FIT.

Canopy:  Adjustable canopy: The shade is fantastic and a must-have, as it can be unzipped and detached for additional coverage. It’s a very good feature that I really appreciate in a stroller, especially during the summertime. It also has a great peek window.

Foot rest: It has a nice step up foot rest that is long enough for the natural bend of a 4-5 year old’s legs. The front tire is completely covered from your child. A small notice: The step up part is not wide, so an older kid’s legs will be swinging.

Quality of fabrics and components: The shield materials are thick. However, they’re not first grade, so don’t expect super quality from an affordable stroller, which is also true for the brakes and the components. The headphone plug-in and the pedometer are of low quality and break easily.

Interestingly, no complaints on the stroller’s overall durability either.  It’s just a matter of feeling of the quality, which really matters to some of us.

Jeeps last for a long time – that’s a fact.

Suspension: The Jeep does not have built-in shocks.

The shock absorption is through the pneumatic tires. It provides quite a smooth ride, even when you hit bumps – it’s not that bad for your child. It goes over rocks, branches and curbs with ease. Rollerblading or running on the rough surfaces is less enjoyable, though.

Storage space: There is LOTS of storage. It boasts a very large storage basket and side pockets, which are easy to get to during exercise. The storage basket could be made of a more solid material, so the stuff inside wouldn’t get greasy/wet so easily, especially when traveling off road.

Parent extras: Parent tray – hardly weighs anything and fits two water bottles. There is a decent amount of room in the “holder” area for stuff like keys, chapstick or hand lotion. The child’s tray has a cup holder.
Does NOT come with an air pump.

The pedometer -  is a gimmick, but these days, the smartphones and GPS make it unnecessary. It keeps track during each run and it would be excellent if it wouldn’t keep falling off and getting broken. If not that, the pedometer might often turn itself off and not record anything (perhaps the sensor and magnet of the counter system on the front wheel is easily broken).

Mp3 - The iBaby music system isn’t very loud. It’s like a headphone plug-in, so you can use any mp3 player or cell phone. The adapter isn’t the most reliable item, and it might quit working for no reason.
The majority of the parents complain that the music system is just so quiet. Turns out the cup holder magnifies the music to the perfect volume! Who knew?!

Does Jeep Overland Limited have any weaknesses?

Heaviness – The Jeep is quite heavy and might be hard to steer when running.
Stability: It  feels quite shaky or unsteady.
No shock absorbers – rough ride on high speeds, which is problematic for the tiny babies.
Alignment: The Jeep doesn’t go straight as a rule: there are significant amounts of veering complaints.
Music station and pedometer: more the gimmicks, as the speaker sounds better on my iPhone anyway.
Losing Air: there are some remarks that the tires lose air quite quickly. It might be a coincident or a sign to buy a tire sealant alongside the purchase of this stroller.

Some Good Things

Price: The Jeep Overland has a good  price.
Baby shower present: Moms love the colors: It matches girls and boys, which makes it a good baby shower present for the newborns: universal color, an attractive price and a solid look.
Good for the Real Life: Jeep is fun to use in daily life – it’s durable, very spacious, the storage basket is great and the adjustable canopy is one of the bests.

Dads just love BOB Sport Utility Stroller! Well, men have their own view on a stroller’s appearance: a rough look, the sturdy feel of the frame and smoothness of the ride.

Walkingmama says: SUS is something like a jogger hybrid of a mountain-bike and Cadillac (so comfortable it is for babies). Despite of the heavy look, it rolls easy on any trail. It’s a high quality jogging stroller. One notice: like other BOB models, the seat height is a bit short, the parents of taller children – be aware!

Parents say – it’s the cheapest among the BOB lines and it’s a very good purchase!

Summary

BOB Sport Utility Stroller is one of the best reviewed jogging stroller on the net and I’m nothing but positive about it.
Despite it’s a bit heavy, non-dynamic look, SUS runs beautifully and is perfect for any terrain, especially off-road trail jogging or walking.
There’s a natural question: what’s the difference between BOB Sport Utility and BOB Ironman, except for the price tag?

• BOB SUS and BOB Ironman have 16” wheels, however, Ironman has harder, slicker 1,5” tires – for even more an easy roll on the paved roads, where SUS’s tires are wider, 2” for rugged terrain.
• Both have a famous BOB advanced three-inch suspension with shock absorbers, that has two positions which let to use it for both small and big babies. Great for jogging even on bumpy roads.
• Dual-trigger folding mechanism is the same for BOB Ironman and SUS.

There’s no difference in quality of construction, features and materials used for both BOB SUS and BOB Ironman. It’s more about of the look and sense of the stroller: SUS feels better in the deep forest and Ironman on the road.

Excellent shocks, sturdy, tough, rugged that could handle trails at walking pace and  wonderful for a jog. BOB Sport Utility has many well-thought-out design features, like shock release knob and tracking knob for straight roll.
It feels like BOB designers have put much thought into this stroller.

Another important thing:  SUS’s seat height is a bit short. If your child soon will reach 40 inch – choose a bigger

stroller – Joovy Zoom ATS or Baby Jogger FIT.

Is the BOB Sport Utility Stroller good for sports?

Sports usage includes: performance, alignment, durability, off-road performance and safety.

• Performance – how easy it rides
  BOB Sport Utility Stroller can be pushed with just one hand. Nearly every parent has found it’s a pleasure to

   un with this stroller. Maneuvered with virtually no effort, quite manageable for lifting, excellent all-around traction. The stroller goes too smoothly, it can easily roll away from you.

  However, going uphill, a couple of some pounds less would be nice. It’s quite a workout.

• Durability: how sturdy it is and how long it lasts
  All the BOB strollers are very durable – that’s the premium feature what you’re paying for. No complaints on durability. Welded aluminum frame, durable polycarbonate plastic wheels. The stroller is sturdy, very robust. 70lbs capacity, which is nice, however, because of its short seat, children tend to overgrowth BOB strollers before they gain this weight limit. In general, it’s great for to 2 to 3 years old kids (up to 40” tall). Well, if you completely open the roof of the canopy – still higher children would fit.
• Good alignment – stroller doesn’t pull to the sides
  BOB SUS has almost no alignment complaints. Although two reviewers complained about difficulty with the front wheel pulling in one direction or the other. For problems like this one, BOB SUS has an adjustable

  tracking feature that eliminates drift for a smooth and straight ride. It’s a handy feature, which I like.

  All the Hi-End joggers, like Joovy Zoom ATS or Baby Jogger F.I.T, have almost no alignment problem as well: if such appears, it can easily be reversed by just adjusting the lever on the front wheel axle. For BOB joggers – it’s the same adjustment, just performed by a simple twist of the front wheel knob.

• Off-road – This is what BOB Sport Utility Stroller is created for
  Semi-slick tires with water dispersion grooves in synergy with the great shocks – an excellent off-road recipe! Urban, suburban, beach, snow, mountains or deep-woods, parents love this jogging stroller’s absolute mastery of the bumps. SUS navigates everywhere.
• Safety – it has a standard safety set: rear and hand breaks, 5-point harnesses, a safety strap. There is a reflection tape on the canopy. Parents like this rear brake, as it could be easily kicked on and off, as well it’s very tough and secure.
• Wrist strap – is attached between the two back wheels of the stroller. The manufacturers say, it’s more safe as the baby will not be at any risk if you do happen to fall. However, it is easier to step on the strap as that is hanging somewhere down at your feet. Not adjustable handlebar. Well padded. Placed 42” from the ground.

Is BOB SUS suitable for Walkingmama Stroller Fitness?

Not really. Walkingmama Stroller Fitness is all about doing exercises right on the go by holding the stroller’s handle one or another way. You will need  to adjust the handle height  to workout the different muscles.

Is BOB Sport Utility Stroller good for the real life?

Measured against easy of use, child’s comfort,  storage space and parent’s extras.

• Easy of use – includes folding, adjusting and using of harnesses.

• Folding: BOB’s folding mechanism makes it very easy to fold & unfold the stroller. In case it doesn’t fit into  our trunk – just remove the wheels (via the quick-release lever). BOB SUS is convenient  for transport and storage. Use the safety strap for locking it closed when folded.
• Adjusting: seat reclines easily by pulling a strap. Deep, almost flat recline.
• Using of harnesses: no complaints, it’s easy to use. Harnesses are both safe and comfortable for the child. Would be nice to have some reflection on them (there’s only the reflection on the canopy’s roof).

• Child’s comfort includes a reclining seat, seat height & width, canopy, foot rest, quality of fabrics and suspension

• Seat: quite roomy, softer, and reclines almost flat. Seat width is 14.5″, same as for BOB Ironman and Joovy ZOOM ATS, however, less wide than Baby Jogger FIT.  The seat height  could be higher – some parents note that  40″inch babies have difficulties to fit into the BOB SUS.
• Canopy:  massive sun canopy (even covering legs)! It gives a generous shade. Nice viewing window. It would provide even more space for the child if it would have a curved roof (like Baby Jogger FIT). Another thing to notice: when the seat is fully reclined, the back side gets uncovered.
• Foot rest: fabric’s leg’s rest. Placed a bit  high and at the almost straight angle: would be better to have a longer drop (like Joovy’s ATS).
• Quality of fabrics: high quality fabric – is tough and more resistant to staining. A seat composes of closed cell foam which blocks out mold and smell from the materials as well. Water-resistant.

• Suspension: excellent. SUS absorbs shock amazingly, making the ride especially smooth.Suspension can be adjusted to accommodate the increasing weight of the child as he grows. One user even said that it can jump curbs when he’s jogging.
  

• Storage space: lots of space for storage (an underneath basket, a large back pocket, and two internal pockets). The baskets are easily accessed.

• Parents extras: all should be purchased separately, including the rain shield and the parent’s console.

Car seat adaptable

YES, with BOB Infant Car Seat Adapter (sold separately).

Does it have any weaknesses?

• Not-adjustable handlebar: Taller parents (near 6ft and over) might not  feel comfortable while running. In fact, BOB manufacturers justify that the non-adjustable handlebar is safer to use – I would strongly argue this, as the quality handlebar doesn’t get broken for  years. Except this point, I can’t see much correlation between an adjustable handlebar and the safety of the stroller. A swivel wheel is, to my opinion, much more controversial for the safety. If you looking for a  jogging stroller with an adjustable handlebar, Schwinn/Instep Arrow is the only option.
• A seat height could be higher:  I have found several complains that already 36″ tall child hits a head on the canopy.
• Alignment:. BOB SUS may happen to pull a bit to the sides, however, it’s quite easy to fix with the adjustment knob on the front wheel. If it doesn’t help – the reason often might be fluctuations in the tire pressure, as these are so  thick. Check your tires and always make sure they are balanced.

Some parents say  BOB Sport Utility is big and heavy. Well, jogging strollers tend to weight more that the umbrella strollers .

BOB Ironman is an exceptional baby gear made for sports and real life. Running, hiking, active walking and, no doubts rollerblading is what it’s made for.  It’s safe and stable, with the fixed front wheel, hand brake and 5-point harnesses. Thanks to its aluminum frame it’s sturdy and lightweight.

This jogging stroller passes a real life exam: it has an adjustable seat, great sunshade canopy, large under seat basket, sit back pocket, and  an amazing two-steps folding. A seat is wide, however, not the widest in comparison with Baby Jogger FIT or Joovy.

I think it is a well made jogging stroller, designed with careful thoughts about parents and a child. However, they haven’t thought about different height of runners: the handle is not adjustable, which is a real disappointment.

Is BOB Ironman good for sports?

Bob Ironman is an official stroller of Ironman Triathlon – for sporty parents that love high-performance and an endurable gear.

Alignment – It’s the only stroller on the market that has a track adjustment knob – to keep rolling straight. Alignment is a typical concern for the strollers – BOB deals with it better than others, as it is so easy to adjust the front wheel on the fly.

It’s also one of the lightest on the market: only 22 lbs, great assistance in pushing your little around.

The main sport stroller things: a fixed big front wheel, hand brake and 5-point harnesses. A nice add-on as a wrist strap to help you secure the stroller while walking, rollerblading or running.

Bob Ironman Jogging Stroller has an exceptional shock absorbing system – rollerblading as well as off-road is just perfect with BOB Ironman.

An aluminum frame - lightweight and durable, thin tires that ensure easy run, as well as lightweight alloy wheels with pneumatic tires and tubes are fast and durable.

Another useful feature is a front wheel tracking adjustment knob – to keep you rolling straight, that’s especially important on fast running and rollerblading.

A viewing window let you keep an eye on your baby, so you don’t have to stop every short time.

For Walkingmama Stroller Fitness workouts– an adjustable handle is a must: to workout different groups of muscles you need be able to adjust the handle to redirect the load.
In general, I should point out the importance of an adjustable handle: if you’re an average sized man or woman and the handle height suits you– this is probably not going to be a problem for you. But if, say, you and your (shorter) wife will both be using this stroller for running or rollerblading – you’ll be much more tempted to hire a baby sitter or to look for one with an adjustable handle.

Is BOB Ironman good for the real life?

BOB Ironman jogging stroller is made for real life conditions:

It allows you to pack up the stroller and go anywhere for an entire day being and feeling comfortable.

The stroller has an adjustable seat so your child can sleep in the stroller. BOB Ironman has one of the best sunshade canopies of what I’ve seen.

Folding – a very straightforward folding,  two-steps, performed just with one hand. This is appreciated by many parents according to the reviews.

It’s high load capacity of 70 lbs, it’s, first of all, very sturdy and therefore durable.

Storage space -  BOB Ironman allows you to take all stuff that you need  and make a shopping on your way without sacrificing neither your speed neither comfort. Large and convenient storage basket and the handy backseat pocket  fit an entire life support system incl. food, water, cloths, toys and other necessities – to go out for a whole day. Another useful thing that  this stroller and Joovy ATS only has – the  inner pockets for child’s toys and snacks.

Old cobblestone roads and bumpy streets aren’t problems for Bob Ironman thanks to a great shock absorbing system, as it stays in a great condition and shouldn’t be replaced even after several years of use.

As for myself, I had the stroller without shock absorbers because I thought we didn’t really need them – It was misleading. Shock absorbers are very useful particularly when going on bumpy roads, over curbs, steps, etc – a baby isn’t shaking or wobbling so much.

Quality of fabrics – tough stain-resistant polyester rip-stop fabric ensures maximum comfort for the child – not noisy, thick enough to protect from temperatures.  Bright colors of BOB Ironman is just great for safe jogging in the evenings, it has enough of reflective tape to ensure its visibility in the dark.

IMPROVEMENTS FROM 2010:

Bob Ironman has been produced even before 1999 and here are the last improvements from 2010:

Are there any Weaknesses?

It has a non adjustable handle – this is a disappointment. Few situations are more frustrating than trying to do a decent run with a stroller handle that doesn’t fit. C’mon, sport doesn’t like compromises.

A  bit narrow foot place for the child’s legs. It’s also placed a bit too high thus doesn’t allow to extend the legs and still keep them on the footrest.
Seat height is a bit short – 21 inches vs 24′ for Baby Jogger FIT. Be attentive considering it for the bigger kids.  If you put really a heavy diaper bag on the handle – it may fall back (when the stroller is empty) – but it’s just a thing for almost all jogging strollers There’s no cup holders, but you can buy a cup holder console separately.

Bob Ironman weather shield doesn’t cover sides of the stroller. If there is a heavy rain or strong cold wind – you can’t keep going, because your child will be wet and freezing soon.

Another misfortune: a weather shield doesn’t allow you to cover on the sleeping position – just sitting. So, if it suddenly rains and your child is sleeping – seems you have to turn home quickly to keep him dry.

As parents say, they like the feel of the Ironman, thus the price makes to think if  they need its high-end features.

Turn your cell phone silent

Leave your electronics at home. As Get it Done guy says: ” They interrupt and distract. They are built to pull you away from the moment”. Well, let me make some adjustments here: Yes, a guy without a kid can leave his cell phone at home for a mindful short walk, but we, moms, just can’t do that. What if something happens with my child – we don’t even have a phone to call for help. Nope. Just turn your phone silent. When your walk is done, you’ ll switch it on again. Moms should be secure. Period.

Practice Mindfulness

When I’m talking on Dynamic Meditation – that’s what I exactly mean: Meditate on the go while you are walking with your baby. It’s the simplest practice of making your brain relax and calm down. Look what Get-it-Done Guy says:

Mindfulness practice is another way to be present. Simply sit quietly and notice your breathing for several minutes. Just be aware of the world around you. And most importantly, watch your thoughts and describe your thoughts to yourself. Do not change anything. Just observe and notice. You’ll find yourself becoming present and calmer.

Since we are practicing mindfulness on the go – moms simply can’t sit. Actually, we don’t need to. Same practice works perfectly well while we are walking with our sleeping babies in the strollers. During the first walks you will find yourself thinking of all that annoying stuff that comes to your mind. Let it happen. Just observe your thoughts. You’ll soon realize that you are not thinking anymore: you start observing. Observing means living in present. No more annoying thoughts. You will start smiling after 40 minutes of walks. No thoughts. Such a relief!

Walking with the baby gives you an incredible opportunity to find yourself belonging to this world

Just do it consciously. Walk and observe, move and enjoy motion, relax and meditate. Contemplation is a good healer. When the walk is done, you will feel happier and full of energy.

Baby Jogger FIT Review SUMMARY

FIT is designed to be your beloved running companion and your child’s little riding home: child’s comfort is well secured. Baby Jogger FIT is spacious with the long leg drop. FIT has enough storage space. At the same time, it’s not particularly huge – shorter  (48′ vs 50 inches) than Joovy ATS and BOB Ironman. Fits easily through the doorways and, I believe, even into the public transport, not sacrificing child’s comfort: Baby Jogger’ has one of the highest seat backs and one of the longest leg room (10,6 inches).
It costs less than Joovy’s ATS or Ironman’s, probably because no shocks and no accessories are included.
Good price isn’t on the account of the construction or fabrics quality: all 1st class. What you’re paying for is a reliable, well-engineered honest jogger.

Is the Baby Jogger FIT good for sports?

It’s very sturdy and stable at jogging speeds, almost no effort to turn it into the curves: no need to lift the front wheel, just pull it thanks to the good balance.
I rate strollers according to the following criteria: performance, alignment, durability, off-road performance and safety.

• Performance: how easy it rides.
  Steering is fairly easy to do and there is no problem in turning on curves and corners. Turns easily without a whole lot of force. Stroller’s weight is 25 lbs, it is not the lightest stroller on the market, however, no claims that it’s heavy. Good engineering for the balance!
• Durability – FIT is built to last, all materials are of high quality. Aluminum frame and molded polymer tires.
• Off-road – It glides easily, however, there are no shock absorbers. Tires are thick and sturdy enough to go on rough gravel trails, however, it might be difficult when going over cobblestones or a bumpy road. However, a great stroller for snow and sand.
• Safety – the hand brake works well. Quality safety harness with padded shoulder straps. The rear parking break operating with a knob – not particularly convenient, I prefer a bar, like BOB Ironman has, however, it’s a matter of taste. Safety wrist strap. The seat has enough reflection all the way on its perimeter.
• Alignment – It doesn’t pull at all. However, if it does, usually you just need to loose or tight the front wheel and that’s it. I must add – any jogger could have alignment issues, but for FIT there’s really just one feedback with such a claim, which is easy to solve – comparing with Schwinn Arrow, which has a lot more of such complains.
• Handlebar is fixed. However, it’s at 41′ from the ground so feet don’t kick the stroller while running. Handlebar is well padded for a wipe-clean grip.

 Is it suitable for the Walkingmama Strollnetics?

As the handle isn’t adjustable –  this jogger is just perfect for the weight loss walking and especially rollerblading. To do Strollnetics you have to adjust a handle to switch the position of the arms, however, with FIT your arms workout  is definitely possible, as a handle bar is placed quite high.

Is Baby Jogger FIT the one to rely on in a daily life?
Measured against ease of use, child’s comfort, extra storage and parent’s extras.
Ease of use – includes folding, adjustment and usage of harnesses.

• Folding – Baby Jogger patented Quick-Fold collapses with just one hand and within a second by lifting the strap. The easiest folding among all jogging strollers. It also has a fold strap to keep the stroller folded for transportation or storage. However, the strap doesn’t allow FIT to store it in a standing position when it’s folded.
• Adjustment – how easy and quietly the seat reclines. Reclines deep and silently, every parent whose baby has just fallen asleep would appreciate.
• Harnesses – wide and well padded.

Child’s comfort includes a reclining seat, its width, a canopy, foot rest, the quality of fabrics and suspension.

• Seat - very comfortable, deep reclining padded seat which, like all Baby Jogger models, has a washable seat cover. Roomy (25 inch) seat. The seat height and width are actually larger than of the most running strollers, including the BOB Ironman. It’s ideal for tall babies who don’t fit into other joggers anymore.
• Foot rest – quite big with a long drop. Baby Jogger FIT has enough leg room which makes sitting really comfortable.

• Canopy – Its sturdy canopy with up-curved top is being praised by many as it provides extensive coverage and more space and air for the child. The sun shade folds far over. Its clear view window securely closes with magnets; won’t pinch your fingers. Vented top allows air circulation, and it can also be covered. As a drawback, there’s no side ventilation pockets. On a hot day, it’s good to have all-side ventilation.
• Suspension – as said earlier, this model has no shocks. Going on the rough terrain, bumpy roads etc it can be a bit rough for the child. However, according to the reviews, it doesn’t seem to happen, as it still seems to ride smooth, so I guess it’s not that bad.
• Extra storage – ample enough in Baby Jogger FIT to bring all the baby gear and more. It has an expanding back seat net and a large, removable storage basket under the seat. Some parents say the net is not particularly big and the underneath basket might be bigger. However, you need to learn some secrets of a proper packing up for the stroller which will allow you to put much more stuff into your jogger than you actually think.

Parent’s extras – all accessories should be purchased separately: even a rain cover is not included. FIT is compatible with the wide range of accessories available for other Baby Jogger models: child tray, parent console, bumper bar, infant seat adapter, and more.
CAR SEAT ADAPTABLE  – YES

Does it have any weaknesses?

Two weaknesses are worth to be mentioned:
a non – adjustable handlebar and no shocks (except for the front wheel).
However, according to the reviews, FIT has almost no suspension complains: FIT rides smoothly, just going over rugged or broken sidewalks it would be less bumpy, if had shocks.

Some consumers say -  FIT feels a little bit heavy to push. It might be quite a subjective thing, because of the highly placed handlebar, that  might make the middle-height parents feel like more effort needed to push the stroller. Otherwise FIT has no reasons for this, as FIT’s weight is 25lbs (less than Joovy Zoom ATS or BOB SUS) and the wheel size is standard 16″. Moreover, FIT has no shock absorbers, that in fact makes the stroller even easier to push.

There’s no accessories included – all extras should be bought separately.

Joovy’s quality and construction  is unbeaten. This premium jogger has all of the high-end features and a thought-out design. Offers an extra convenience for a runner and child.
Along with  its closest competitor BOB Ironman, it is the best what the market offers.

Walkingmama says: The one to rely on for many years. I rate Joovy over the BOB, because, with similar features and hi-end materials Joovy offers larger leg’s drop and a taller handlebar. A fixed handle’s issue is also minimised, as there’s no rear axle: you can make longer steps even if a handle doesn’t fit your height.

Good price, extras included and a very hot look – I give 5 stars!

SUMMARY

Rugged, yet sporty the Zoom ATS is great for tough tasks: running, walking, rollerblading – and all is done for a smooth, comfortable ride.  Sturdy and easy to wheel, this jogger is the one to last for many years, as it’s suitable for even 4-5 years old kids thanks to astonishing legs drop of 13″. An advantage – Joovy is the largest stroller available on the market and its capacity  is impressive (carries 75 lbs). It also offers a comfortable sitting with the long leg’s drop and tall handle bar.

For the serious runners – Joovy ATS has a fixed handle bar, which is one less thrilling thing about this stroller. But Joovy offers a solution minimizing this issue: it has no rear axle, which makes your run more comfortable (not to be constantly stepped on while running) if a handle doesn’t fit.

My review is based on  two criteria: Sports (performance, off-road, durability, safety) and Real Life (easy of use, child’s comfort, storage space etc)

Is Joovy Zoom ATS Good For Sports?

Measuring the stroller against performance, alignment, durability and safety.

• Excellent Performance – how easy it is to push. Joovy Zoom ATS is so smooth and easy to push. Jogging at a pretty decent pace, it almost steers itself with enough pressure! Great for running, excellent for walking and certainly for rollerblading, as it has great shocks, a taller handle and all safety features.
• Off-road – The Joovy Zoom is one smooth ride. Its great shock absorbers smooth out the bumps and provide a comfortable ride for your little one. Great for all terrains, works on concrete, grass and mulch at the parks.
• Good Alignment –  how well the jogger keeps going straight. Joovy Zoom ATS holds a straight roll pretty well, in fact, it has a few more complaints for the alignment than BOB Ironman. However, thanks to the front wheel excenter, it’s very easy to fix right on the go.
• Durability – Joovy is a very sturdy jogger. Parents who have used it say that they could see this easily being passed on to their number 2 and 3 child.
• Handle – not adjustable – is a bitter news. However, Joovy’s handle bar is taller and also there’s no rear axle between the rear wheels, which allows for maximum stride length. All this minimize the disadvantage of the fixed handle bar. Handlebar grip is foamy, has enough cushioning on it and it helps absorb sweat from your hands while running.
• Safety – well thought about a safe ride: good balance, reflective tape on the harnesses, hand break, parking breaks and the running leash – to make sure the stroller won’t run off from you. I like that Joovy has no plastic parts inside or outside the canopy, that is good for the safety.

Good thing  for the serious runners: Joovy ATS has no rear axle and allows maximum step’s stretch while running. It is worth mentioning -  Joovy ATS is a kind of designed for shorter people, as it takes extra efforts to push this big stroller holding on the taller handle.

Does it fit for the Walkingmama Stroller Fitness?

The only feature that makes Invisible Stroller Fitness possible is the adjustable height.
Joovy, unfortunately, has a fixed handle which make this wonderful jogger suitable for only the arms exercises.

For all kind of running, weight loss walking, hiking and rollerblading – this stroller is my first choice.

Is Joovy Zoom ATS good for real life?

Does it pass a real life’s exam? The benchmark here is the ease of use, child’s comfort, extra storage and parent’s extras.

Ease of use – includes such items as folding the stroller, using the harness, adjusting.

• Impressive one-step fold. Folds better than any jogger I’ve seen. With an automatic lock. Watch a  video to wow!
  
• Adjusting -  seat reclines 70 degrees easily and quietly using a strap.
• Harnesses – 5-point  with reflective stitching for the safety at night. Some parents say, straps could be wider, but this I believe is just a matter of preferences.

Child’s comfort includes: canopy, seat width and recline, foot rest,quality of fabric and shock absorbers

• Canopy –  Joovy’s has a huge canopy with visor -  it’s sufficient to keep the sun off your child just about regardless where the sun is. The closable window allows you to check the child while running – no need to stop every time – this feature is very much appreciated by parents.
• Wide aluminum footrest  that the baby can put the legs on. It’s better, to my opinion, than the BOB’s Ironman one, which is a bit narrow and placed  a bit high, so the bigger child is sitting with the knees bended too high. Joovy’s footrest is wider, more reclined and placed right up the front wheel, so the child can extend the legs more.
• Hi-end fabrics – materials are excellent. Joovy Zoom ATS is made of very thick 6000 D fabric that is great in protecting your child against temperatures.
• Seating is wide – kids love how roomy Joovy is. Interior seat width is 14″, which is suitable for the toddlers (4-5 year old). Seat is also placed high from the ground – floor to seat 23″ and kids love it. A seat is well padded, with the nice mesh pockets for the baby to keep toys, snacks or bottle right under the arm. Longest leg’s drop among the jogging strollers – 13″ vs usual 8-9″. Well done, Joovy!
• Shock absorbers that work - Joovy offers simple but good open spring suspension that works effectively so together with the giant 16″ wheels. This stroller rolls right over everything, even the sidewalk bumps.

Extra storage – Joovy jogger has a large storage basket under the seat – very easy to access, unlike the Schwinn Arrow’s one. Joovy’s basket is huge and parent-friendly.

Parent’s Extras
Joovy has all the extras included: rain/wind cover, pump and great neoprene parent organizer. Parent’s console is great, with two large bottle holders and zip pocket for keys and mobile – very handy indeed.

Does it have any weaknesses?

Joovy Zoom ATS seems to have no important issues to report, however, some points are worth to be mentioned:

• It’s quite big – most of the feedback reports are about the size of the stroller: it’s really big and therefore not terribly light. It doesn’t reflect on a ride, as it pushes very well. As parents say, it takes quite of the upper body strength to get it to turn, as you really have to push down hard to get the front wheel to lift with the string suspension. As for me, I, personally, don’t mind an extra workout for my arms while walking.
  If you are on the shorter end, this is not the stroller for you, IT IS big and the handle is taller than of the usual stroller’s!
• Alignment  – according to the consumers’ reports, Joovy Zoom ATS has sometimes minor alignment issues: it may pull a bit to the right or left, however, with the front wheel adjustment lever and excenter it can be easily fixed right on the go. The alignment problem is common for all joggers: in high-end models, like Joovy and BOB it can be resolved by adjusting of the front wheel to the center, while in less expensive models the alignment  issue could be caused by a more serious reason, for example, the front frame’s fork can be bend.
• Rain cover is a bit short for legs – has an excellent coverage, but on the very front, there is no velcro to keep it closed. It might cause your child’s legs wet in heavy rains especially in the front as it might fold slightly due to the rain or wind.
